Beautiful Solids

I really have a passion for beautifully colored solid fabrics. Most of my quilts feature the wonderful fabrics and colors found in the Robert Kaufman Kona collection.

Yesterday I treated myself to 16 different colors from Robert Kaufman's Chambray collection. These new fabrics have a gorgeous quality to them!

Their beauty is due to how they are woven. Instead of one color used for both the warp and the weft, two different colors are used.

See how the warp and weft in this fabric are different colors? When woven together the colors blend to create this beautiful "Moth'" color!

Can you see how the this also gives the fabric a luminous iridescent look? Gorgeous!

WOW. Those are amazing! I especially love the top two in the first photo. That orange is amazing and those look great together.

As I opened the screen, I couldn't help but see the tie in of the raw edges to the thumbnails of your quilts over to the right. Isn't it amazing how two colors crossed become something altogether different? I like that iridescent quality.

Oh, I can see why you like this fabric. I'm not much a fan of the kona line, but this looks great. I worked at Hancock's of Paducah but it was a disaster because all my checks went towards fabric!

These are gorgeous, & what I'm looking forward to is seeing just how much more gorgeous they become after you've worked with them. Can't wait to see what you create!

Oh & I love the term 'warp & the weft' which I've never heard before (I don't work with fabric) & thought it would be a sweet title for a cartoon. Main characters called 'warpy' & 'wefty' :)

HA! that would be cute!
I use to be a weaver, so I am comfortable with the terms warp, (the threads that run vertically) and weft, (the threads that run horizontally.) But from now on I will see little cartoon characters when I think of warp and weft!

Absolutely gorgeous 'shot' fabrics.
The trouble is, when you sew them no-one sees the selvedge!
